Brief on Taekwon-Do Association of India(ITF)

History Of TAI        Taekwon-Do Association of India(R) which is affiliated to "International Taekwon-Do Federation" was found in 1984 in the name of All India Taekwon-Do Association in Madras(Chennai) under Mr. C. Kothandaraman, 2nd Dan Black Belt . Later the Head Office was transformed to New Delhi from Chennai after the New Office bearers were elected in the IV ITF Congress meeting held in the conference hall of Talkatora Indoor Stadium on 31st August, 1989 Mr. B. Rajendran, 6th Dan as President, Ms. Rachana Chourasia, 4th Dan as Secretary Genral and Mr. Ajay Kureel, 3rd Dan as Treasurar. In the year 1990 under the chairmanship of Mr. B. Rajendran a new name was adopted i.e Taekwon-Do Association Of India due to various reasons. This name was re-registered in New Delhi in the year 1991. The Presidentship was handed over to Mr. B. V. Ramaniah of Andhara Pradesh by Mr. B. Rajendran in November, 2000 without any election, so to keep ITF Taekwon-do from breaking into to two parts in India. But Unfortunately Mr. Ramanaiah, 6th Dan of Andhara Pradesh could not handle it, hence the Presidentship of TAI was given back to Mr. B. Rajendran, 6th Dan by the National Congress of TAI in December, 2001 at Andhara Pradesh.

The formation of this association was due to the entrance of ITF Taekwon-Do to India through Master Leong Wai Meng, 8th Dan Black Belt, International Master Instructor & Examiner and one of he Directors of ITF. The General Visited India in the year 1993 and he conducted a Taekwon-Do Seminar for the Indians in Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi from 16th to 20th December. Since it's inception "TAI" have been going from strength to strength by deputing/making/affiliating instructors to spread ITF TKD to the masses of India.
